Knoxville-Knox County Planning Contracts with New Cell Tower Consultant

At the end of 2017, Knoxville City Council and Knox County Commission each adopted a new wireless communications facilities (WCF) ordinance.

The City and County ordinances regulate cell tower locations, design, height, and types of towers. The application and review processes were updated at the same time the ordinances were adopted. With all these changes, MPC needed consulting services to implement the ordinances.

A group of staff representatives from MPC, City Engineering and County Engineering formed a panel to interview candidates. Vicki Farmer, who resides in Ooltewah, Tennessee, was determined to be the best fit. Farmer has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, working for major cell providers, site selection companies, and consulting firms. Her work includes many areas throughout Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. MPC looks forward to working with Farmer to implement the new cell tower ordinance within the City of Knoxville and Knox County.
