SOUTH CITY SECTOR PLAN: The Development Plan

SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY AREA:
CHAPMAN HIGHWAY CORRIDOR

 

Objective: Convert Chapman Highway to a multi-use transportation corridor accommodating pedestrian, bicyclist and vehicular traffic.

Proposals:

  • Convert existing shoulders to sidewalks, particularly within the core area.
  • Minimize multiple curb-cuts through shared ingress-egress (voluntary for existing development and mandatory for future development).
  • Add landscaped screenings to development where the frontage of the development is used for off-street parking or parking for car sales.
  • Transportation improvement (see Transportation Improvement Plan)
  • Create a walkable core area along Chapman Highway between Taliwa Court and N. Fronda Avenue (see Parks, Greenways and Sidewalks).
