homes occupy the largest percentage of land in this sector.
- The largest category
of growth is residential development. Between 1995 and 2000, 99 acres
of land were added for residential use. About 1/3 of this acreage
is for single-family and 2/3 is for multifamily development.
- Four new apartment complexes
were built in this period, adding 510 units to this sector. They are:
College Park (1993)
- 192 units Flenniken
Square (1996)
- 42 units One South Place
(1997)
- 72 units Sterling University
Heights (1998)
- 204 units In particular,
the College Park and Sterling University Heights apartments were developed
to provide housing for University of Tennessee students.

Report also shows that 539 multifamily building permits (including
duplexes) were issued to this sector between 1991 and 2000.
