DEVELOPMENT CONSTRAINTS

 

Supuerfund site
  • Over one-quarter of the land in this sector has slopes exceeding 15%.
  • Sinkholes occupy 350 acres or 5% of the land.
  • Two hazardous waste sites on Maryville Pike are on the Superfund Site Listing and have not been cleaned up since they were listed in 1991.
  • A number of houses are located along the Maryville Pike corridor and are sandwiched between commercial or industrial uses.
  • The major issues on Chapman Highway are: lack of sidewalks, multiple curb cuts, a proliferation of signs, and underutilization of some commercial properties and structures.
