MPC Library and Information Center

The MPC Library and Information Center serves as a resource center for data and information which can assist you in your planning, management, and marketing decisions. MPC collects, generates and maintains current data on the population, housing, employment, construction, economic changes, and growth indicators of the five-county metropolitan Knoxville area.

The Library, located on the fourth floor of the City County Building at 400 Main Street, is open to the public each weekday from 8:00 to 4:30. Someone is always available to respond to quick telephone requests (865-215-3829) or to help you find the information that you need utilizing the collection of over 9,000 reports and 90 journals. You may e-mail an information request directly to the Library by contacting gretchen.beal@knoxmpc.org.

The Library is a participating member of the National Council of Planning Librarians and the Greater Knoxville Research Network, both of which support exchange of information on urban related topics. Membership is also held in the American Planning Association, The Urban Land Institute, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, and other organizations which can provide resources unavailable locally.

Using on-line technology, MPC is able to help citizens play a more active and informed role in local government. The agenda for MPC's monthly meeting can be found online.

Our MPC telephone “agenda information line” lists agenda items that have been postponed or withdrawn prior to MPC’s regularly scheduled monthly meeting (the second Thursday of each month). The number is 215-3830 and is open the Tuesday immediately before the Thursday meeting date.

All of these services combine to improve access to information — a top priority at MPC.
