Traffic counts were collected by:
Knoxville Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC), Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), Knox County Engineering and Public Works, City of Knoxville Traffic Engineering Department

Each Count Location is denoted by a Station Number, with the first letter indicating the responsible agency:
"C" indicates a City of Knoxville Traffic Engineering count location and is shown in red.
"M" indicates an MPC/TPO/Knox County Engineering count location and is shown in green.
"T" indicates a Tennessee Dept. of Transportation count location and is shown in blue.

Traffic count data are included for the years 2004-2007, with some count stations being counted on a rotating basis. The traffic count data are given in the standard "Average Daily Traffic" format, which represents the volume of traffic, in both directions, at a particular location on an average day during that particular year. The average traffic is computed by taking the raw traffic count data that is collected usually over a one to two day period and then adjusting it by factors to account for daily and seasonal variations.

More detailed information, including the directional, hourly, and 15-minute summaries of selected counts, is available from the Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization.

TPO completed counts of bicyclists and pedestrians at 7 locations in Knoxville and 3 locations in Blount County. These counts are conducted twice a year. Detailed information on each count location is available by request from the TPO.
